DTI 2025 Roadmap

Welcome to the roadmap for the Distro Transparency Index 2025. This page outlines our planned timeline and key milestones for the upcoming year. Please note that this is a project in development, and we are committed to its completion, even if adjustments to the plan become necessary.

The idea is to create a DTI: Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) on UK and we need at lest 3 member

January - April 2025: Project Initiation and Team Building

  • Refine project scope and objectives
  • Recruit team members and form partnerships
  • Establish a review board for the project

April - June 2025: Methodology and Governance

  • Collaborate with the review board to finalize:
    • Project organization structure
    • Data collection methodologies
    • Governance framework for scoring assignments

June - July 2025: Data Collection and Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive data gathering from Linux distributions
  • Process and analyze collected data

August 2025: Preliminary Index Publication

  • Release the initial, non-final version of the index
  • Open communication channels for feedback from distributions

September 3, 2025: Final Index Publication

  • Incorporate feedback and responses from distributions
  • Publish the definitive 2025 Distro Transparency Index

Commitment to Completion

While we are enthusiastic about building a collaborative team and review board for this project, we want to assure our community that the Distro Transparency Index 2025 will be completed regardless of potential challenges. In the event that the project doesn't proceed exactly as outlined above, the index and report will still be compiled and published by the project initiator, ensuring that this valuable resource is available to the Linux community as planned.

Important Notice: DTI Update in Progress

We are currently in the process of gathering additional information from various Linux distributions to enhance the accuracy and completeness of our Distro Transparency Index (DTI).

The final update of the DTI will be published on September 3, 2025.
